SERIES
Light on Canvas
Year: 2015 - current
Inspired by the great masters of Impressionist painting, this series portrays everyday landscapes and places with a unique light and image texture that resembles brushstrokes on canvas. Printed on canvas, with light trails created by camera movement at low speed and vivid colors, these images evoke the works of Monet, Degas, and Renoir. But unlike the masters who used oil paint, here I use light to paint my canvases: Light on Canvas.
The photographed scenes are merely records of what one sees day to day. In this sense, the Impressionist notion of “seeing” takes on a new meaning: it is about selecting, cropping, shaping according to the scene observed.
Impressionist artists sought to capture visual impressions as valuable experiences—this is the visual experience I aim to offer in this series.
